The Summer Season

By Helen Gaskell

When acid-tongued 1818 debutante Maria Marley slips on a strange gold ring, she wakes up in the body of Anna Timewell-Gladly: a failing luxury-travel reviewer, influencer nepo-baby and daughter of a billionaire media mogul.

In return, Anna lands in Maria’s place at a country-house marriage market, surrounded by scheming mothers, desperate heiresses and one infuriatingly handsome lord.

As each woman battles scandal, impossible expectations and enemies on both sides of history, they discover unexpected freedom in the other’s life. But with a hurricane raging in modern Ireland and a disastrous Regency wedding closing in, swapping back may cost them everything they’ve finally found: love, ambition and the chance to become the women they were always meant to be.

Praise for Helen Gaskell: -

'A fun, fresh take on a Regency romcom that had me alternately cackling and swooning from the first page right up to the last' Virginia Heath -

'If, like me, you're desperately searching for something to scratch that Bridgerton itch, this captivating novel from Helen Gaskell is sure to hit the spot…A charming, witty romance guaranteed to make hearts race and fans flutter' MY WEEKLY -

‘Who hasn't dreamed about being transported back to Regency England? Nobody I want to be friends with. I had an absolute blast reading this funny and touching novel, discovering how Etta coped with living in a time long before M&S knickers were invented, and how Hetty coped with … everything. I cackled out loud in places, particularly when Etta sat down at the piano and belted out Hozier to an increasingly horrified audience of ladies and gentlemen' Emma Orchard -

‘A brilliantly fun time-slip, regency romcom that effortlessly weaves the lives of Etta and Hetty – despite their separation by two hundred years. The dual storyline was fresh and funny (chamber pot anyone?), the characters flawed and lovable. Devoured in one happy sitting!’ Michelle Kenney -

‘Helen Gaskell’s brilliant debut novel, The Regency Switch, is both charming historical romp and witty contemporary romance with just the right amount of spice’ Darcy McGuire -

‘What a fun ride! This magical debut from author Helen Gaskell hits all the right spots – funny moments, tender moments, body-swapping, magical realism, and some spice. I highly recommend this if you’re looking for an escapist book which will leave you feeling warm, fuzzy, and believing in the power of love’ Dana Hawkins -
