Adeline Yen Mah

Adeline Yen Mah was born in Shanghai, and then lived in Hong Kong. She went to university in London, and now lives in California and London with her husband Robert A Mah and their two children.

Her first book, Falling Leaves, which sold over one million copies worldwide, recounts the story of Adeline’s life. Adeline then gave up medicine to write full time and published her next book Chinese Cinderella, her painful and poignant memoir aimed at younger readers. Her third book, Watching the Tree, is a book about Chinese philosophy, comprised of Adeline’s many personal experiences, with twelve different themes each headed by a proverb. She attempts to relate what she has learned from her past, as a daughter of China, in terms of happiness, tradition and spiritual wisdom.
