Sander van der Linden

Sander van der Linden is the Professor of Social Psychology in Society and Director of the Cambridge Social Decision-Making Lab in the Department of Psychology at the University of Cambridge. He is often dubbed Cambridge’s ‘Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher’ and his pioneering research on fake news, misinformation, science denial, and the psychology of influence and persuasion is world-renowned and has been downloaded over a million times. He has published over 100 academic papers and is ranked among the top 1% of social scientists worldwide in terms of citation and impact. He co-developed several viral games which help people spot fake news online that are played by millions of people around the globe. He has been described by WIRED magazine as ‘one of 15 Top Thinkers’ and Fast Company featured van der Linden as one of four ‘Heroes of Digital Democracy’. His award-winning research has been featured on the pages of Rolling Stone, the New York Times, BBC, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, Nature, and Science. Prior to Cambridge, he was based at Yale University and Princeton University. He currently resides with his family in Cambridge, UK.
